On the evening of October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock opened fired on a large crowd at a country music festival along the Las Vegas Strip. From his perch high above the venue on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, Paddock killed 58 people and injured 546. As investigators struggled to find any clear motive for the massacre, the community grieved the lost and injured and received a visit from President Donald Trump.
